Aurora, a new high-end restaurant atop Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, has opened for an extended soft launch. Situated at 7,808 feet, all its food and drinks must be transported by gondola. The restaurant operates Thursday through Monday from 4:30 p.m. for dinner, while a coffee shop below serves skiers daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Aurora’s menu, developed by Executive Chef Brandon Hicks—formerly of Michelin-starred Picholine—features locally inspired dishes like elk tenderloin and buffalo carpaccio, along with coastal additions like yellowfin tuna. The restaurant also boasts a wide selection of craft cocktails and 24 beers.
With a 2,300-square-foot roof deck, a retractable roof, and large windows, Aurora serves as an exclusive event space, already booked for every Friday and Saturday night of the summer. The building’s highlight is a 24-by-8.5-foot LED mural designed by local artists, showcasing lighting vignettes of sunrises, sunsets, and the aurora borealis.
Aurora aims to be a destination dining experience complementing Snow King’s observatory, planetarium, and concert series. Reservations are available until 8 p.m., with walk-ins welcome at the bar. More details can be found at SKAurora.com.
