After years of planning and persistence, Jackson Hole High School is closer than ever to a major transformation. A recent report from the Wyoming School Facilities Department recommends $21 million in funding to expand and modernize the school — a milestone that could reshape education and community life in Teton County.
The proposed 20,000-square-foot addition would tackle longstanding space and adequacy issues. Plans include 13,000 square feet dedicated to career and technical education, which would free up classrooms currently used for these programs. The addition also features a 1,500-square-foot dining area to relieve lunchtime congestion and a 3,750-square-foot modern kitchen, with the current kitchen being repurposed for culinary students.
District leaders say the improvements will create a more adaptable academic environment, opening doors for high-demand career pathways while easing pressure on general education classrooms. The project also clears the path for the Bronc Achievement Center, an athletic and community facility that voters supported with $16.5 million in SPET funds in 2022.
The school board will vote on whether to concur with the state’s Most Cost Effective Remedy study and move the proposal forward to the School Facilities Commission. If approved, the funding could be fast-tracked, allowing the design phase to begin as early as March.
“This not only supports current programming but sets the stage for future growth,” said Charlotte Reynolds, the district’s executive director of communications and district services.
It has been a long road since the district began advocating for upgrades in 2017, but with $21 million now on the table, Jackson Hole High School may soon see its long-awaited expansion take shape.
